logo_ict-camp.jpgThis wiki is online collaboration tool for the Mekong ICT Camp that will take place on Thammasart University Learning Resort, Pattaya, Chonburi Province, Thailand during 25 - 29 February 2008. This wiki will be used to plan and dynamically record the agenda and event proceedings.

Event Basics

Program

The agenda for Mekong ICT Camp is being developed by the organizers and participants. Please see below for a summary of what will be covered at the event.

Structurally, the agenda is divided into three dimensions:

Morning Tracks covered three main learning areas for participants. Each participant selected a track and followed that learning path for each day of the event

Afternoon Sessions offered elective and inter-disciplinary workshops on a range of topics. Participants were free to explore different sessions each afternoon.

Special Events, such as The Bazaar and Evening Program sought to entertain, inform and amaze, allowing participants to interact in fresh and exciting ways.

Post-Workshop Monitoring, There will be a Post-Workshop monitoring activity to be conducted by SEACeM mainly focusing Blogs and Joomla Session. Those participants who submitted the Post-Workshop Monitoring form to SEACeM. They are required to develop a roadmap for enhancement of current organization portal.

Track 1 - Information Management

Track 2 - E-advocacy

Track 3 - Computer Networking

- Setting up of a wired network with the following information:

  1. Scale: Local Area Network
  2. Connection method: Ethernet
  3. Architecture: Peer-to-peer
  4. Topology: Fully connected
  5. Protocol: TCP/IP
  6. Devices:
    1. 6 computers
    2. A switch

- Setting up of network services such as the following:

  1. Thin client server (allowing access to the server to run applications)
  2. Web server (using Apache, for HTML sites available internally)
  3. FTP service (using vsftpd, for file access with upload feature)
  4. Samba server (for sharing among Linux and Windows machines)
  5. Print server (using CUPS, for remote printing even via Windows machines)

- Testing the network services through client applications - What did not work:

  1. The wireless router did not work, for some reason. We lacked time to troubleshoot the problem.
  2. Internet sharing did not work. Fedora machine which is supposed to host the sharing did not work. We lacked time to troubleshoot the problem.
